There was never any mention of Frederick being directly involved in the first world war, he was 32 in 1915 when Albert was born. Boot making would have been an essential job for the army at that time. right - Wyn and Albert, about 1917/18. The writing on the back
of Geoff's copy: "Dear George [Stephanus] do you know this
little stranger? Albert has brought her to fetch you. With love from aunt

Left - on the back: "This is the two spitfires outside the shelter last summer left Grace having a tussle with Lill." - the air raid shelter was in the garden of 41 Bloy St. Right - Albert promoted to Sergeant early in the war. Albert in Egypt - he was based in Cairo from 1938-45, eventually as a Sergeant Instructor, teaching driving and maintenance on tanks and heavy lorries. There are 126 photos of this period. |

1945 death - Frederick G, Davis, 66, Bristol, Sep. 6a, 82. right - appears to be from the late 1940s, Martha in her late sixties, possibly with her son Maurice. left: Martha with a grandchild, but not know which or when. On the back: 'took while we were on holiday at Weston outside the flat'. Probably Keith or Susan in the early 1950s. |

Left: - with daughter-in-law Queenie, 1960s 1966 death - Sep 1966, Martha E. Davis, 85, Bristol, 7e 33. Martha died at home, age 85, in the same street where she grew up. She
was apparently never ill, never went into a hospital and was doing the
housework as usual the day before she died in her sleep - 21 years to
the day after Frederick died. 1998 - Bill Davis died in South East Hants, probably Waterlooville where he was living with his daughter Ann.
